St. Clair Shores is a beautiful suburban city on the shores of Lake St. Clair.
Located in Macomb County, it is approximately 13 miles northeast of downtown Detroit. Neighboring communities include Harrison Township, Clinton Township, Roseville, Eastpointe, Harper Woods, and Grosse Pointe Shores.
St. Clair Shores boasts a wonderful municipal park system, great recreational sports programs and facilities, and three public school districts; South Lake Public Schools, Lakeview Public Schools, and Lake Shore Public Schools. There are also many private and parochial schools include St. Germaine, St. Isaac Jogues and St. Joan of Arc.
Fun fact: St. Clair Shores has 14 miles of canals! Most of these are found in the Nautical Mile, which is along Jefferson between 9 and 10 Mile. So, if you’re looking for lakefront property, SCS is the place to be!
The Nautical Mile features retail, restaurants, craft breweries, boat dealers, both private and public marinas, and more! This business district is a destination for family fun, fishing, nightlife and good eats. There’s even more fun to be had in the Downtown Social District. The district’s common area hosts year-round events and is home to many businesses.
At the time of the 2010 census. the population of St. Clair Shores was 59,715. This is a popular area because it is safe, has a relatively inexpensive cost of living, has many amenities, and has beautiful scenery.
